Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Akagera National Park- Luxury safari
On day one of your 7 days luxury Rwanda gorilla tour, have an early morning breakfast and after, meet your driver guide for briefing. Take a short Kigali city tour which involves visiting Gisozi genocide centre, local markets etc, after, enjoy lunch. Later, drive to Akagera National Park in the Eastern side of Rwanda about 2 and half hrs drive in 4×4 vehicle. If time allows, embark on late afternoon game viewing in Akagera NP or relax at your luxury safari lodge.

Day 2 of 7 days luxury Rwanda gorilla tour: game drive, boat cruise
After breakfast, set off for early morning guided game drive Akagera National Park taking the Northern side. For about 3-4 hours, expect to see diversity of wildlife including the Maasai giraffes, lions, leopards, antelopes like roan, oribis etc, buffaloes, rhinos, birds to mention but a few. Retreat afterwards to enjoy lunch and relax before setting off for a launch or boat cruise along Lake Ihema to see aquatic birds, hippos, crocodiles etc.

Day 3 of 7 days luxury Rwanda gorilla tour: Game drive & transfer to Nyungwe NP
After breakfast, leave your luxury lodge in Akagera for last views of savanna game as per this package. Later, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park in the Northwest a home to 13 species of primates, 310 species of birds, lots of reptiles, flora and more. Get to Nyungwe early and you will enjoy a short walk in the tea plantations.

Day 4: Nyungwe chimpanzee tracking, canopy walk- Luxury safari
After a hefty breakfast, you set off for briefing about chimpanzee tracking rules and then you begin 2-4 hours journey involving navigating through the forest to see chimpanzees and also other primates, birds en-route. An hour will be had face to face with chimps, exploring how they behave daily, taking pictures then you return to your luxury lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, canopy walk follows taking you on suspended walkway as you sight lots of Nyungwe’s primates, birds etc.

Day 5: Nyungwe to Volcanoes National Park for luxury gorilla tour
Breakfast early morning, after drive up to Volcanoes NP with a short visit at Lake Kivu then you proceed to your luxury gorilla safari lodge. Refreshments, dinner and overnight stay will be at the checked in luxury gorilla lodge.

Day 6: Luxury gorilla trekking experience
After a hefty breakfast, leave the lodge for briefing at Kinigi- get to know gorilla trekking rules and also a gorilla family to track in Volcanoes NP. At 8:00am, the park guide leads you in a group of 8 visitors to look for mountain gorillas taking you about 2-6 hours inclusive of one hour face to face with these large apes. Walk back after taking photos and enjoy lots of refreshments at the luxury lodge before setting off for cultural walk in Iby’Iwacu cultural village.
